How to Make a Fool of Yourself AND Learn a Very Important Lesson, All at the Same Time!
Now you guys will thanks me for this, and although I already knew this life altering lesson, I still didn't listen. So I bring this story to you for your own protection while walking through the hot streets of Manhattan in summertime. You may do what I did, read this, hear about 3 more similar stories, probably from your close friends too, but STILL not listen, but let me just tell you this...LISTEN UP GIRLS...LISTEN UP! (And if you are a guy...I may have given you a new activity too)

We will set the scene: I am walking to meet my friends for one of our weekly dinners (that we haven't had in weeks!) Now, as usual I am late because I have to work a half hour later than all of my friends do, so I usually have to do a semi-run to dinner so that they aren't waiting too long or so that we wont lose our table. Anyways, so I get out of the subway at Bryant Park and I am doing my semi-run and in order to pass a HUGE family full of tourists (PS, they were ALL wearing the same shirt!) I moved over to the subway grate. Now usually I would follow this sentence with, and my heel got stuck in the grate and I feel over and embarrassed myself. Luckily this time I didn't get my heel stuck in the grate, but instead since we had decided to have a "dressy" dinner...Well let me just tell you this. Skirt+subway grate+subway passing= Beth's utter and total embarrassment. And for those of you who cannot picture this scene, I move over to the subway grates while two boys are chatting behind me, and then WHOOSH, my skirt flies up over my head...And the boys stop talking....And it wasn't cute like when it happened to Marilyn Monroe...IT WAS M O R T I F Y I N G ! ! ! ! !

So in conclusion: When wearing a skirt, do not walk over a subway grate. No matter if you think a train is passing or not...DO NOT WALK OVER THE SUBWAY GRATE!!!!! Now seeing as I was totally embarrassed once by falling when my heel got stuck in the grate and now once by exposing myself to the world...I will NEVER walk over one again no matter what I am wearing!
Now guys...Please don't stake out subway grates waiting for this to happen, it really really isn't funny...Okay it is....But just don't!

Oh and just in case you wanted to know....I had already heard 3 STORIES of this happening...one firsthand from a friend...did I listen...No, and you know what...thats what makes it funnier!
